ELSA OSORIO
ARGENTINA, 1952

Born in Buenos Aires, she lived for many years in Madrid and now resides in Paris. Her great importance and international success began with the publication of My Name is Light, a novel published in 16 languages and which won the Amnesty International Prize and was a Femina finalist in France. It tells the story of a young woman born in the jails of the Argentinean dictatorship and illegally appropriated by military men to raise her as their own daughter. At twenty, Luz begins the search for her identity, an investigation that ultimately leads to the discovery of her real parents.
In her most recent novel, Sky of Tango,
Osorio narrates the history of Argentina
through the saga of two families at opposite
extremes of the social scale. An explosive
cocktail of love, fights, tenderness, betrayals
and a dangerous, sensual dance – the tango –
that unites them all.
