Pacho O´Donnell graduated as a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Buenos Aires, specializing in psychoanalysis. Between 1976 and 1980 he was exiled in Spain.With the advent of the new democratic government in Argentina in 1983, he was appointed Secretary of Culture in Buenos Aires. He then held a succession of posts as civil servant, ambassador and senator. He has been distinguished with the Order of Isabel la Católica by King Juan Carlos I of Spain, and the late French President François Mitterrand awarded him the Ordre des Palmes Académiques. As an author he is recognized for his historical research. His biographies of influential historical figures rapidly become bestsellers.
