FRANCISCO MARTÍN MORENO
MÉXICO, 1946

A lawyer by training, Moreno studied at the Colegio Alemán Alexander Von Humboldt in Mexico City. As a journalist Moreno has had a prolific career. Specializing in the popularization of the history of Mexico, he has published over 1,500 articles and columns. As an author, his books have been hugely successful in Mexico and the United States. Based on thorough research, he presents a very often neglected dimension of the history of Mexico and its people in a style both literary and entertaining. With Black Mexico, a historical novel dealing with the financing of the Mexican Revolution, he began a run of uncommon success. This achievement has been maintained in all of his books, which have enjoyed dozens of editions and sold hundreds of thousand of copies. His most recent work, Mexico Before God (Alfaguara, 2006) has sold more than 120,000 copies in less than a year. He is highly respected as a novelist, historian and political columnist.
