Antonio Jiménez Barca studied Hispanic Philology at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and lived for a year in Paris and another year in Prague. Since 1994 he has worked as an editor for the newspaper El País. He is the author of the novel Pending Debts, which won the Silverio Cañada Prize 2006 for the best first detective novel in Spanish, awarded during the Semana Negra (Noir Novel Week) literary festival held in Gijón.
